There are three basic formats for crowdfunding:
reward-based, equity-based and investor-based. Which one is the best one for
your great, new product? Each one has its own merits. Many crowdfunding sites
also give the campaign originator the option to not keep the funds collected if
the entire amount is not raised, or to keep the funds raised. Some sites have
more rigorous guidelines and approval processes to follow. Take time to
research and determine which type of crowdfunding is best for the invention.
Once the right fundraising platform is found and set up,
start marketing it. Create social media pages to post the campaign on. Send
email blasts to anyone who might be interested. Create a top-notch video about
the invention. Descriptive words are nice and can tell a good story, but a
video showing people how it works is even better.
KH Direct Media also suggests keeping track of the campaign
analytics. Some of the platforms have this option. Read the directions and
follow any advice about how to amp up funding. Crowdfunding is as great way to
raise the funds needed to get a great, new or improved product into the public’s
eyes.
